Dunton Avenue, East Patchogue : -Air-floor slab-on-grade foundation for 1,441 square foot residence with 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, den with fireplace. -Structural Insulated Panel envelope construction with Andersen windows and sliding glass doors. -Internal additional thermal mass wall of concrete block with cores grouted solid. Fireplace has flue rising up alongside main counterflow supply duct within the internal mass wall for additional heat exchange from the fireplace to the air-floor system. -Roofing is Kynar-coated metal standing seam with Uni-Solar BIPV "peel & stick" photovoltaic strips applied exactly within metal pan roofing. -Passive solar orientation coupled with the air-floor and mass wall has yielded exceptional empirical results to date with 40 deg. F. differential measured in the morning after internal temperature drifted down all night. During gain situations, internal temperatures have routinely scraped the 60 degree F. mark with outside temperature in the teens. -HVAC powered by water-source heat pump.

National Golf Links Staff Quarters : Split-level air-floor. Double loaded corridor building with 14 "SRO's" - seven rooms and corridor on the upper level, seven rooms and common social space 4 feet down on the lower level. 4,000 square foot total conditioned space. Roof structure is of 18" deep composite joists at approximately 16" centers, spacing varies as members align radially to produce curved surface. Fire-resistant rated shakes are applied over lathe over breathable scrim. K-13 cellulose finish spray-applied over galvanized metal lathe over air/vapor barrier on the bottom.

Tuckahoe School Addition : The project consisted of a 22,500 square foot, two-story building addition to their existing 28,000 square foot facility. The new addition provided space for new classrooms, a library, multi-purpose room, computer room and an entry lobby. AKF Engineers provided the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) design services for the project. The building incorporated many elements of 'green' design, such as: Proper siting, Efficient Envelope Construction, Heat - Recovery Ventilation system, Concrete Construction, Glazing by Orientation, Geothermal Heat Pumps and a Condensing Boiler connected to a Radiant slab, maximum natural daylighting, high-efficiency auto-shutoff fixtures, and careful materials selection utilizing non-VOC and durable finishes throughout such as the ceiling tiles, flooring and wall coverings.
